Wish for love, but hope for nothing; It is a blight; if Venus herself scorns you- what hope can there be? Is destiny not pre-written? What then, do you hope for? All things are as they must be. Things will happen as they will -not necessarily as they should. Thus, hoping for what is not freely given, needlessly bearing the chastisement of the gods- time after time, we learn to hope for nothing.
