BATTLE WON

Health:
a battle for balance,
regeneration versus decay;
build up, break down.

And fourteen pounds
of barometric pressure
weighing on my chest
keeps my lungs breathing -
in... out...

Fighting fit
today I am weak,
watching you -
the Strong -
making your peace,
embracing your death
in the white flag
of a kiss.

Your creative vision is stupendous in BATTLE WON, Kate. You portray dis-ease brilliantly. Your ending is gasp-inducing and extremely thought provoking.

fabulous imagery here, Kate, and leaves me somehow at peace, as if all is right with the world even when breathing and just being feels like so much futile effort.
