Kate,
Yes! How rich the fig and its leaves are since ancient times, how emotive, erotic and iconic!
If you haven't read that famous passage in Women in Love (DHL) on how to eat a fig, then do, please. Love this!

I love the comparison of the ripening fruit to love, and it is so easily equatable, picked to soon it can be bitter, hard and be spit out as too sour to the palette, if knocked to the ground by weather it may be bruised and although some of it will be okay the bruises will make it less appealing, if let to late, it will rot on the vine but....if picked when ripe it will be perfect and we savor the taste a long long time. Lovely Ku sweet KATE...
