... I never know what kind of mood I'm in until I get here... Seems to be humour that's on a bit of a roll at the moment... must be my reflex-action to the darker nights and all the howlin that's goin on!! :)) xx

VENUS AND MARS

They were sixteen. She was humming as they sat holding hands on the five-barred gate: Only Women Bleed. Don’t sing that! he squirmed: a sign, perhaps, that Doctors and Nurses hadn’t quite been his favourite game during lunchtime breaks at Junior School. She should have seen it coming: he’d never get that women not only bleed, but block plug-holes with long-haired emotions, clog-up the toolbox with their unwieldy problems and will blunt a Panasonic Triple Blade instead of their Remington Ladyshave every single time. The very idea makes him nick his skin, plaster his chin in spots of blotting tissue.

Great immage appearing in my mind. Yet these days, I often cut my finger in the kitchen and loose more blood than my wife! But as for the hair down the plughole you got it there. Me? well I never have a bad hair day as you can tell!

The many sides of Kate - how clever you are. Love how the momentum picks up from start to finish like a ball happily rolling down hill.

Moments, differences... humor helps us see the whole seen with different eyes. It's all there, right from the beginning. Nicely brought.

Kate,
Women are from Venus & Men are from Mars. We're definitely not talking about astronomy here. (lol) Good one Kate.

Beautiful....every word!

I recall my son screaming, Mom, why do women bleend for seven days and never die"?

He'd just had a fight with Mariah. She and I recall this as priceless as well.

Glad to be back. Your humor is exactly what I missed.
Love,
Susan

The coming of age of young hearts and minds and the awakening not only of sexual knowledge but such simple things as body function differences between male and female is amazing. You brought this scene vividly to life Kate as you gave us a peak into mind and soul. Happy Halloween Sweet Kate.

Kate,
You handle this intermix of blood images and gender 'attributes' very deftly, the transferences are more real than the images themselves suggest...and are very witty.

Naw, when we are sixteen we know only one thing, can we get a hand under that bra? The female sex at that age are years ahead of us guys, and some tend to believe you stay that far ahead of us, if you believe Oprah and the other yak shows. Somehow, someway though, we do seem to get it all together. Mars, uh huh . . .
