The Pier

The end of this Pier is in need of repair.
Fishermen fish uncaring and unaware.
The night time light has been shattered by the wind and embe dded in the wooden planks.
The Ocean's tide rides high, splashing waves that erode and rust the metal shanks.
In the dim moonlight, a long way from shore, there's a feeling of lost at sea.
Loneliness like driftwood floats by on rotting memories.
Cement pylons hold strong the old piers heavy weight.
As time and age and the constant storms predict its inevitable fate.
Expectations crumble beneath the once sturdy and strong Pier.
Proving to all who walk its length, there will eventually be a need of repair.

Like any pier that juts out into the ocean, the salt will wear it down in time. If you want a similar poem to check out, see "How Long"
somewhere in my mess of poems...I enjoy anything that has a bit of the ocean in it...Peace, Ed & Rufuz |

I have photographed many of these, and your poem made another
vivid image, to store in my artist's mind.
I like this. |
