My little Pet, my own Sweet Pet
While life remains, I'll ne'er forget.
The happy hours I spent whil'st yet
Though wert with me-
Five short sweet months from day to day
Within my loving arms you lay
Gods Angel came on Patrick's day
"He came for thee"
He said, "I see her smile too bright
Her form too pure for earthly blight
I'll bear her to that land of light
To dwell in Paradise.
She is too good, too sweet and fair
She's God's own lamb. He will her care
And keep her from the taint and snares
Of earthly vice."
Thy perfect form of Baby charms
Beguiled me of dull care's alarms
Content to take thee in my arms
And let the world go by.
Each morn and night, on bended knee
I pray that I resigned May be
To wait with patience here till we
Meet bye & bye.
