First Love

Young we were so deep in love

Carefree our thoughts about each other

Earth was ours and only ours

Just you and me together

We never thought neither one would leave

Our love was that deep

But waking from my deep sleep

I heard the words I cry when I repeat

Earth was not you place no more

Heaven had now become home

Shock was not the feeling I felt

Shame came over me

Shame for not telling you more

Shame for not sharing more

Shame for not caring more

Shame oh shame for ever more

Still this day I see you smile

Your voice in my ears

I feel your arms around me

Love can endure

When my time on earth ends

And I leave for heaven

Sad I shall not be

My first love again I shall see

Oh Tommy,
this one is so sad and touching.
It's the irony of fate that, once it is too late, we regret things we have done or haven't done and said.
Even if she is in heaven now, she will know what you felt for her, how true and honest your love was. I am sure about this.
Keep well.
Excellent write.

A beautiful touching poem for a Sunday morning here in South Africa. I am sitting in my office with a winter sun streaming through the window, listening to the sound of bird song and reading poetry. What a lovely start to my day.
Thanks
