pretty silly

     loving you was so grape
 our crisp hard apple hearts
    blended into a love-smoothie,
and it was so berry good.

      you were my papapya papa
  me your plump plum mama,
       your banana melted me,and
   my cantaloupes drove you coconuts

       the lemon of your leaving
sour cherry absence of your touch
       has made me plum bananas,'cuz
we were the pear that had so much

        now i'm berry melon-choly
    and so berry blue
         'cuz just go fig-ure
i miss the peach of you

         but,orange you glad
     we had such cherry displays
of the cornucopia of our love
     during our fruit salad daze

He has crossed the path to a better place and has no pain or sorrow. Lives up there with the angels and is carrying on God's work since his was finished on God's earth. You surely did have a good time with him down here though.

I am so glad you are taking the time to post this weekend. I am astounded by the beauty of this piece. It is both playful and excellent in rhyme and scheme. But it also has this underlying bittersweet quality that totally contradicts the playfulness. You have adequately blurred the lines between pleasure and the grief and loss of same. -A
