The movie begins and his head tilts
backwards, pillow-bound,
eyelids creep quietly closed,
beautiful browns obscured

A deep breath, with shallows follow,
lips part to swallow sleep,
heart beats,  ribs rise,
even in sleep, he is so alive

Within me, there is a stirring,
I could call it affection, adoration,
yes, I could call it Love,
or simply, Life.

For when my head rests
upon his chest, an ear
pressed closely to hear inside,
I feel I finally understand peace

So often my fingers wish to capture
feelings mere words cannot,
I would put down my pen,
never write again,
in exchange for a lifetime
of unnamable thoughts

I'd still hear someone un-wrapping, then chewing on everlasting toffees.

But you do pick that pen up again and write. This is a very powerful poem and well thought out.
