How many ways can I say it?
Those 3 little words
that have toppled Kingdoms
and foment war
Can my utterance
the sacrifice of my soul
heart split upon the altar
please you?
Willingly I wield the knife
and in letters sanguine spell:
‘Eu Te Amo’
These words run wild
like the rivers
dense as rain forests
in the Amazon of my mind

Beneath the Champs Elysse
I serve you these words
‘Je t’aime’
sautéd in red wine
and on a baguette
with Camembert
Emotions tower
high above the Eiffel
floating to the heavens
on Alpine breezes

Or I say them to you
as we lay
in a tulip field
of yellow, red & pink
‘Ik houd van u’
In the distance
a proud wind mill
waves to us
we smile
nestled in a blanket
of petals
