Sharp Shards of Morning

It just renews the ache

Brings back the pain

The happier times before

Are now empty and slain

Memories they are all

Where ever I turn and glance

Every corner every angle

Stupefied in a trance

Eyes heavy with heartache

Lids bleeding ruby drops

Insanity, a moment of madness

My heart just wants to stop

Words uttered not in silence

Thoughts numbed in shock

Loneliness and searching

Haunted I take stock

Eyes mirrored facing backwards

Do I even understand?

The heartache and destruction

Caused by my own hand!

Will I ever defeat my demons?

Creeping along nights’ edge

Upon sharp shards of morning

Do I want it… no rather be dead!

Oh, I know this feeling... all to well. You strike a mighty blow with your quill - may you continue to bleed your beauty upon the page for us, yet not at the expense of your life and your sanity. -- Jeff

SHARP SHARDS OF MORNING glitters with a brilliant examination of the inner self in one its most powerful and yet most vulnerable modes, dragged into despair but steady holding on to the ultimate integrity of one's humanity. An exceptional write.

The picture reflects the mood.
The angst is very powerful.
The line caused by my own hand. That's the healing. Most go into denial..

We often look too harshly at ourselves and the problems we are centered in. This write to me at least exemplifies that. Well put together and very soul searching write.

Gripping piece of poetry here. Soul-searching is never a pleasant endeavor, but a necessary one for our mental health. Very well-written.
