Under Silt

For where no hope is left,
is left no fear.

John Milton (1608–1674), English poet.
Paradise Regained (1671).

Under Silt

Sadness breeds in stagnant pools
Walled in ponds which cannot flow
In murky depths of silent pain
And emotions under silt don’t grow

Therefore love is not achieved
As oxygen therein is depleted
That which touches poisoned water
Gasping; meets its end …defeated!

My dear friend,
Your poetry is always so beautiful. I found this poem deeply moving and the words so true. I miss you friend. Know that you're in my thoughts ad prayers while I'm here in England. I miss the warm South African clime. Enjoy it and think of me shivering and bundled up like a lady eskimo. Soon I will be in LA with my love and I KNOW he will warm me up. Praying that you find the same warmth in your life. A warmth that comes from inside. You really deserve it.

A powerful poem that reflects the conditions in some countries and in the human mind that has lost all hope.
