Where eldest Night
And Chaos, ancestors of Nature, hold
Eternal anarchy, amidst the noise
Of endless wars, and by confusion stand.
For Hot, Cold, Moist, and Dry, four champions fierce
Strive here for mastery.
John Milton (16081674)

Shadows Playing with my Sentiments
Steps in the darkened recesses of my mind
I see shadows playing with my sentiments
Tantalising words whispered in dreamscape of realities
So mumbled and incoherent they are
With promises dangling on high wired tightropes
The steps too steep for me who fears acrophobia
Driven through pain in wind blasted tunnels
Where anxiety and pain rule within those walls
Confusion reigns like a barrage of missiles
Targeting the seat of thought with perfect accuracy
The hub of feelings that exposes the tenderness
That pumps with ichor through blushing veins
Like that of Greek Gods of old
Yet there’s an ache felt within and such longing desire
That tears at each and every unfathomable crystallized emotion
Savagely shredding the sinews that try so hard to keep control

I have to hold on--the pain literally blows me away. Such power, such sadness in your eloquent words...hope you're okay, my dear friend.

"...promises dangling on high wired tightropes", what a line! Pain strung to the furthest degree, trying to keep from breaking apart.
This hits home with powerful feeling, Elga. Tears are the release valve, otherwise we'd blow apart. Exquisite write... |

Dearest Elga,
It is a very deep deep poem. If some one wants to see how does PAIN look like, he should read this poem. It has a beginning,a middle and and an end. It depressed me a bit but then I know you. I know how much positive you are. I get inspiration from you. I know whatever it is, you know how to cross over it.
"darekened recesses", "dreamscape of relaities","promises dangling"... very beautiful and powerful. Very origenal..
Lot of love and regards
Masood

Precious friend,
Your poetry is always a feast for all the senses, even those poems that wrench at the gut. Your presentation is superb and your selection of words effective. This touched me deeply because I know all too well what you're going through.
Sending you love across the many miles.

This is an excellent package, Elga. That feeling of being unable to change our fate can rock us to our core and often in the twisted forms of dreams we find ourselves trapped and unable to find resolution. Searching for the light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps finding it, we are still held back by the gale-force winds blasting us. Lots of great images and the feeling of frustration and fear seem very real within your verse. Wonderful offering, Elga.
Take care,
Sherry |
