Doleful Eyes

Doleful Eyes

As I close my eyes
And slowly begin to drift

I see shadows obscuring my vision
Not allowing my senses the freedom
The ability to wander
Far into realms potentially usable

As I brush lightly upon feathered pathways
Attempting to walk ahead of the relative darkness
Restraints of invisible chains bind me
Evoking tremulous sensations
Yet through obscurity laying bare
The diffident persona

To the world a seemingly belying confidence
Comfortable in the security of a personal blanket
Tentatively trying to blossom like a budding rose
Desiring warm sunshine to feed the soul
Yet hiding within are fears so real
Insecurities almost insuperable

Do I dare take the risk?
Or even expose the crying child within?
Whose silent tears often stain the heart!
Comprehend and celebrate the confidence of woman
Forget and cast away doleful eyes
And instead allow a sybaritic breeze!
