When storms like fire Engulf the soul Suffocating one’s very last gasping breath Searing away and stripping Layer by aching layer To the core Of what was once A compassionate heart Alive, loving, breathing and feeling Is now left in tattered ruins Like a discarded forgotten remnant Of the once beautifully cherished love Floating ashes, dispersed into a sea of solitude To be forever lost into oblivion On the dunes of arid desert sands Where nights are cold and lonely The moon haunts transient shadows And in the recesses of one’s mind Starlit nights are just a faded memory!
A very interesting and well written piece...there are emotions of life wrapped within the reflection of times where the heart and soul are engulfed into a disaproving or unfortunate view of life...leaving only the reality of a memory...
Of what was once
A compassionate heart
Alive, loving, breathing and feeling
Is now left in tattered ruins
Sadly, you write of a very common theme in this world/life, Elga. I find your poem and what you express within it very compelling and I can totally relate to the sentiments that you share via your verses. It is very nice to read you again. Love and best wishes to you,
