The Purpledove

A young girl walks the beach
A long flowing gown of white
Her long blond tresses whip in the wind
As she slowly walks out of sight

He watches her hide behind a jutting rock
Sitting on soft silky sand
Something small is clenched inside
Her delicately smooth white hand

Her fingers slowly drift apart
Held captive is a purple dove
It's carved from a piece of ivory
It's her innocent symbol of love

She places the dove before her
On the fine velvety sand
Her fingers magically begin to move
Seeming to float from her hand

Flowing from her lips are words
He's never heard before
He moves closer for suddenly
There arises a deafening roar

A mist flows from her mouth
Carrying her magic words away
Across the ocean the mist is gone
With the magic she had to say

Before his eyes a miracle
As he sees a fluttering purple wing
He hears a sweet delicate voice
As the girl and dove begin to sing

The dove rises from the sand
Perching timidly on her finger
Their voices melting together
Sounding like only one singer
The song they sing is love
As he finds himself before her
He's mesmerized by her eyes
As his heart begins to stir

The dove's voice fades away
And softly he hears his own
His voice in harmony with hers
A song he's never known

Her hand entwined with his
The other magically moving
The dove takes to the air
With wings humming soothing

He watches purple wings disappear
Into the blue of the sky
The stirring he feels in his heart
Is love and he begins to cry
