For just a little while I shall not read the news
For just a little while I will not sing the blues
For just a little while I shall turn away my gaze
For just a little while I will ignore the blaze of injustice, of cruelty, of foolishness, of greed of war imposed, of power at play of weakness, of envy, of malice
For just a little while I will seek solitude
For just a little while I will seek serenity
For just a little while I shall remember the birth, the life, the death of Jesus Christ the man who taught us about love and goodness and compassion about kindness and the will to help those in need...about the ease with which to bow low...about the fortitude with which to stand against wrong
For just a little while... for one Silent Night I shall be quiet

PS: And so it was a quiet night...this year, too...on Christmas Day, though, you could have heard me howling! I had a splinter in my foot and it hurt like hell..got infected, too...so by New Year's Eve I was once again quiet...couldn't dance, you see. I was worried I might have only one foot left..not enough to stuff my mouth (on occasion).
That priceless addition was written on January 4th, 2009, and my foot is healing...am I?
