In Scotland in many towns at the end of stone buildings you can see a Loupin Stane. This "leaping stone" was used to mount horses in the days before cars.

This is a love poem dedicated to all in love on St Valentine's day, no matter what your age.

Come jump up on the loupin stane
The loupin stane, the loupin stane
Come jump up on the loupin stane
And my eyes will come to yours.
And hold my shoulders firm and strong
And lean towards my lips
And let my hands descend a little
And hold on to your hips
Now I will kiss those tender cheeks
And you might do the same
Our feelings warm each other’s hearts
 Upon the loupin stane.
And from the stane now jump upon
My steed and I’ll jump too
Hold firm and grasp his long black mane
And I’ll hold on to you
We trot towards the churchyard
Where we were first acquainted
No access to the church today
It says it’s being painted.
So back we trot to where we mount
I’ll help you land contented
And as I tie the horse to grass
My heart fair starts demented
Now sit you on the loupin stane
The loupin stane and linger
My mother’s ring I’d like to place
Upon your betrothed finger
Now what say you about my heart
Can I be a’ ye sought for?
I canny live for aye alone
An worship just the loupin stane
Come lie your head ma Jonny lad
Come lie down here yer curls
An let my fingers weave their paths
About those golden furls
For you I promise love sincere
Together we’ll remain
As lang as we know when to mount
Our loving loupin stane.

Beautiful, lilting song of the loupin stane. You've both educated me and entertained me in a lively manner. (and by the way, I'm still trying to find Dutch Hannie's site. No longer here, perhaps.)

:) I can't believe I am the first to comment on this- this is great. It has a great lyric quality to it that's so fitting to the theme. Enjoyed.
