Trying to be perfect, in an imperfect world.

Connect the dots.
Cross the T's.
Dot every I.
Make it perfect,
For an imperfect world.

Make your home just so.
Keep the yard, groomed and weed free.
Inside, tidy and neat.
Make it perfect,
For an imperfect world.

Workout, two hours a day.
No, gray hair won't do.
Stay trim, for the world to see.
Be ever so perfect,
For an imperfect world.

Don't take a political stand.
Walk both sides of the fence.
Have no opinions, just many friends.
Be ever so perfect,
For an imperfect world.

Be the talk of the town.
Raising athletes, honor roll students.
With a spouse, who catches an eye.
Let everyone see, your perfect,
For an imperfect world.

Stay away from others hardships.
Don't offer to help.
But never refuse when asked.
Let everyone see, your perfect,
For an imperfect world.

In this imperfect world,
Being perfect, is no easy chore.
I think,
I'll just cruise along,
With my own imperfections.

Laying down on Mother Earth,
I'll stare at a blue sky.
I'll marvel at everything, in between.
And that's,
Just perfect for me.

perfect is highly over-rated, unless we're talking about this poem. It's perfect!

Years ago, I was ever the perfectionist. However difficult it has been, I've learned to let that go. Now, my house is usually messy and, sometimes, I even sleep in! The best bonus is that I have been blessed with much healthier relationships these days... Wow, I'm so much happier now!

An excellent piece, Dave. Thank you.

I gave up on trying to appear perfect for this imperfect world long ago.
I'm so much happier now.
I own my imperfections, and I embrace them each and everyone with awe.
Life is way too short for such material wastes.
I did truly enjoy these thoughts...I clearly saw me...years ago.
Thanks for sharing Dave.

I think that this is just perfect for all those people that try to make things right when they can't. We are imperfect it is what gives character to some and makes them what they are. I am glad I am imperfect it gives the perfect ones something to brag about.
