Sometimes we make mistakes...

A Song from Home

I strummed and sang my heart out

Played every song I knew

The young lady clapped her hands along

She asked: Is there one I know youíll do

I smiled and said what do you know

She said sing me songs of home

I drank a few too many beers

And kinda feeling all alone

You see at sixteen I ran away

I thought I knew it all

At seventeen I discovered drugs

Needle tracks in the hall

At eighteen I turned a trick

Too late I knew that I was hooked

At nineteen I was arrested

Prostitution charges booked

At twenty I found hope in Jesus

Or maybe he found hope in me

Iíve been clean for six months now

The Lord worked his love you see

So now Iím working saving money

Iíll soon have enough to go

To the arms of Mom and Daddy

Who still want me back I know

I picked up my old six string

I said this oneís for you

Itís one I think youíll like

Iíll play ďAmazing GraceĒ for you.

The power of transforming Love, poignantly and movingly portrayed, Felix - but without a trace of over-sentimentality. Could feel such deep compassion for both these characters, and know from personal experience the overwhelming and cleansing love that is spoken about. It is totally inclusive and freely flows person to person, such that anyone who comes into contact with it can feel it's waves washing over them. Amazing indeed!! Just beautiful TY Kate xx

If all the ones that have left home could read this it might give them more hope of cleaning themselves up and going back home. Jesus always has hope for us, we just need to ask for it. We can always have Amazing Grace. Beautiful poem. Karen
