This nobel ship still sits tall outside the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in dear ole Halifax town

There she lay resting, calm, serene

Berthed again at Privateers Wharf

Ready to spin the endless yarns

Of all the places she has seen

The winters froze her at her berth

Her riggings screams Ďneath Northern sky

Her crew adrift and wild in Halifax town

They left her their to slowly die

No more the trade routes of the orient

No more the shores of Africa so strange

The new fangled steamers rule the seas

They say itís certainly seems a shame

The brass will go for scrap metal

The timbers cut and dried for furnace wood

The ropes can still be salvaged

Purser says Iím afraid thatís all thatís any good

Like a regal Queen she sits in grace

Knowing her monarchyís in total ruin

The days of sail have come and gone

She will be the last one soon.

~*~ Felix... truly a poignant poem filled with nostalgia and pathos!
Such a regal and majestic olde tyme sailing ship should never be
scrapped! This ship is truely awesome and the sail rigging 'branches' are an expansive vista to peruse... wonderful photo! I also like your
name Felix... as in Felix The Cat! My abode abounds with my fabulous,
mystical, loving, beloved Felines! ~*~ Shivani ~*~

Well and truly wintered.
Pity, greenpeace could do with an extra anchor weighed, afore and aft, beat to quarters.

I love Sailing ships.

Sad, but yet beautiful. Amazing how 'alive' those giants can seem. Wonderful picture and so greatly put into words.

She seems a grand ole ship, bet you she has a million adventures to tell about her times upon the sea. I hate to see ships die...

Beautifully depicted and presented; the photo is lovely.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
