...I believe it was Elvis who wrote and sang...and lifes a stage...

the music of cars on wet pavement

on a stage outside my window cast

whining tires to midnight’s rainfall

stir forgotten memories of the past

the reaper’s siren hits a high note

as life or death he makes the call

the extras hide behind their doors

their immortality to forestall

my aging character is played

like a prima donna’s final role

I give it all and take my bow

an offering of my very soul

now cue cards scatter to the wind

floodlit stars blink out one by one

the final curtain brings the ending

perhaps, perhaps final absolution

Very deep write, evident that your emotions run sounds as though you are tired, sometimes when we think we are ready to take that final bow, we get up with a surge of energy and a renewal that takes us another mile, I agree with Victor our final absolution should be the ultimate goal of making it home...Heaven! Great write very thought provoking and stirring.

Life does at times throw wicked curves at us and though we swing we don't get a hit. But Like the ball player there are nine innings in the game and some times the pitcher gets knocked out of the box. Life is like that I think. We find some predicaments that seem unsurmountable but when we explore all avenues there is always one that can be taken that can lessen or resolve that which we face. But it takes our full attention to investigate the course of action that will lead to this avenue of relief. Keep swinging the game is far from over.

Your sadness is evident and your consciousness is flirting with mortality. Although your poem is one of your best I'm more concerned with you. Take a day at a time. You know you can always talk to me.

This is an amazing poem. We all make choices in our life that change the very being of who we are. I have learned the past always comes up in the future somehow, but somehow we just have to make peace with it and know we are better because of it. Love this poem
