Dark

Dark

It’s dark

Dark as night can be dark

I feel dark, dark as a heart can feel

Dark

So dark

Darker than the coal in the mine

I sit in the dark where sorrow hangs its hat

Dark

Black dark

Dark clouds hover in sight

Soul fading to the emptiness of the dark

Dark

Sadness dark

Dark like the last stone

The last stone that closes off the tomb

So dark that I may never find the light again

Goodbye old friend…

One can get lost in darkness, but there are hidden treasures in those times too, which can help lead us to even greater light and understanding. Thanks for sharing this powerful piece. The picture of the rose is beautiful too.

Felix,
I agree that darkness can be solemn and morose; but there's always that uplifting feeling of seeing one again and being able to turn a negative into a positive aspiration.

This is a very different write for you. A sadness is seen here, that hanging hearts are made of. With the verse " The last stone that closes off the tomb" leaves a sliver of hope because what rolls can move once again. Very dark yet so thought provoking. And I love that rose!

This poem exudes despondency, my sweet friend, like a wave of indeed the darkest water gradually grabbing a hold of one's ankles, then surging up and further up, until the whole being seems to be engulfed in it. And yes, life does present us with dark moments such as this, once in a while... but allow me to offer you the wise words of someone who has been through all possible trials, and yet... a constant, heartfelt smile, illuminates his face: "Where unfortunate things happen in our lives there are two possible results. One possibility is mental unrest, anxiety, fear, doubt, frustration, and eventually, depression.(...) The other possibility is that because of that tragic experience you become more realistic, you become closer to reality. With the power of investigation, the tragic experience may make you stronger and increase your self-confidence and self-reliance. The unfortunate event can be a source of inner strength." - The Dalai Lama. May this Dark be, therefore, and no matter how impossible this may seem, a Source of Light, dearest Fee.
A warm {{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}}} with much Love, from your (evasive in presence but sincere in essence) friend,
Alexandra*

A closed room without windows and without lights, painted wall ceiling and floor with black.
A blind man inside, fumbling around trying to grab a black cat that isn't there.
Depression do that to you.
Very dark poem.
