Never give up on love...

Cliff Walker

By: Fee

He strolled the cliffs above the cove

Seeking the ghost of his lover past

Haunting spirit dancing in mist and fog

Like some Devil’s midnight drama cast

Like every night he comes again

To where she didn’t say goodbye

And tonight like nights gone by

He still asks God to answer why

He squints his eyes and wipes his brow

By the very spot she fell from grace

Relights the tobacco in his briar pipe

Wonders if tonight he’ll take her place

The fog rolls out and the stars spotlight

The flagstone path towards the beach

Then on the path out of the fading mist

A woman smiles just out of reach

She beckons him and he can’t refuse

Their lips and hearts as one collide

The widow neighbour down the road

Asks him would he like to take a ride

The fog and cliffs and seashore rolls

As he takes her hand learning love again

Oh life supplies sometimes the answers

To love’s recurring pain…

Fee,
I love the imagery here. The fog seems to enhance the lonely feel throughout most of your poem. An excellent twist of fate leaves a smile on the reader's face. Beautiful~

Good Morning Fee,
Your Poem Expressed Love's Undieng Passion & Needs. Love is in many places even in a memory, but being held in the end is beautiful.

Your words show us that with faith and patience, the question "why" fades, to be replaced with a new knowledge of love. Beautifully written poem with deep images, Felix.

Love always appears unexpectedly. The feeling is overwhelming at times; but you know when opportunity knocks you won't ever want to miss it! Beautifully-expressed!!!!
