Soul Gazing

Sometimes when we look we don't always like what we see...

I once looked into the soul of man

Screaming insanely from fright I ran

As I shivered at the what had looked back

Through a gate to hell left opened a crack

Vile dark mirrored images so evil cast

Pupils dilate with unlisted dreads of past

Strange is the light of fiction over fact

Against the calling of the wind to act

Barbed demons not allways meant to be seen

Sins unconfessed to rot a mottled green

All roads of good intentions will dead end

Conscience sold down around the river bend

Falling, falling closer to the point of no return

Rising, rising from below the fires of Hades burn…

Soul Gazing

"Conscience sold down around the river bend," describes the soul state of many people today. Kids cheat in school and adults cheat on their spouse--and yet, all that is sold can be redeemed by the faith of one.

Fee, there is something sinister going on over here at AD. It seems everyone is all doom and gloomy. Scary poem. I wouldn't want to be in those shoes. ~ Sara

YOu and I have many of the same "moods". It seems we write in parallel of each other. It's good to see how others see things and you are, by far, one of my favorites. I try to read a couple of your creations a day. I'm catching up.

Fee,

This one is effectively, chillingly penned: hopefully all who read take a deep look within themselves and change their ways. Well done.

You play with the dark themes of hell-burning-falling. It's an interesting exercise in this kind of imagery.
