~ A Creative Spirit ~

She sits there working, in a room

not unlike this room

the one where I write, or read

The light from the lamp

throwing shadows across the page

as the words appear to fade

She creates illusions in verse

and truths in rhyme

Let us imagine she is a muse

presiding over her art

Her poems, I will never know them

though they are the ones I need most

Her inventive mind with a camera’s eye

creates visions to tug at your soul

Let her have a loved one in the next room

let the door be opened

and the one who sleeps there be well

Let her have the time, the patience

and the silence

enough paper for mistakes

and the passion to

continue to create

Such a wealth of soulful recognition and compassion fill the lines of A CREATIVE SPIRIT-- all at once a prayer for the liberation of the creative instinct subdued by the daily grind, and, in and of itsef, an exhultation of the creative spirit's refusal to be destroyed by such a grind by the simple that it insists on flowing through the pen of the one who blessed us with these words. Thank you for the blessing.

Carole,
This is art magnificent. You just painted in words the next MonaLisa.
I could see every detail, no matter how small, but all were uniquely hers.
Yes..stunning work.

This is very, very good, Carole. In my thoughts you made it possible for me to see her as she sat, composed her words and chewed on her pencil's eraser, then went back to composing. Yep. I saw that.
