The dawn around me broke today, and shattered 'round my feet did lay
the pieces of a broken dream
in shards of glassy splinters,
seemed
to say it's all for naught I cry to
gods, that turn their blinded eyes
to pain that screams in nightmares deep, and wakes me from a troubled sleep
to conscious madness in the night
and puts all thoughts of hope to flight, and leaves me withered as a leaf
too long away from soft relief,
of rain drops misty coolness there,
to sooth away my parched despair, and moisten lips that once were kissed
in passion, now alone and missing
days and nights of bliss,
and promises
of ever more that soon became
a closing door, that sealed my heart
in icy bars of solitude, and then became
my anthems call to spectral shadows
on the walls of rooms, now empty
of your face, and leaving nothing to embrace
but echoes that around me dance, the waltz
of craving madness there, while voices echo down the stairs, and whirl around me singing still, the words of long forgotten, oft'remembered dirges, ringing
unclean bells, and moving through the crowds that swell around me, pressing into see this soul cast down beneath the feet
of circumstance, and drawing back so not to touch
the unclean, turn away and looking back,as though to see once more, the face of agony
walk on, as bending low I cry
for lovers lost, not knowing why, and moving slowly up the stairs, I hear the voice
of angels, there to take my hand
and lead me in, to places I have never been, and stroke my brow and bind my heart in
down plucked from the silken wings of
Cherubim, sent there to heal a heartand make it whole to love again in
other worlds not known to man or maidens fair, as softly they caress my hair and
tenderly do whisper words of comfort, long
desired, never hearing, yet expected as we lie upon an empty bed where once did lay
two lovers, twined in passions never known by angels, breathing dusty dreams left there to linger
in a darkened room, where rain drops made
their patterns on the wall of solitude around us as we loved and lost and parted, ever loving, never knowing, always listening for the sound of hearts that beat in tandem
to the rhythm of their bodies moving
into one another as they lived their
lies and made their beds on sharpened barbs
of never ending madness that the lies
they told created, then engulfed the lives
of others, leaving ruin in the wake.

Sylvia this is magnificent prose! It stirs all the emotions, sad, dark light, lovely, passion and despair, yet retains it's lyrical rhythm. George is fortunate to share your genes;-)
