Paul,
Poetically this is really excellent! Though I feel strange saying that because of the emotional content, but that is what makes such powerful poetry! I adding my accolades to the rest you have received on this one! |

| For one who considers herself a writer, I'm having trouble expressing the emotions you drew from me with this incredible piece. I know only that I would not have found the courage to write of such a thing. You, however, have done so eloquently, gracefully, and reverently. Kudos. |

| A deep dive into dark waters of anguish remembered. The beauty here, aside from that inherent in the language of the poet, is in the portrait of two connected souls facing sudden horror together and battling with nothing more than the simplicity of their humanity. They may have died a little more but they also, somehow, managed to live and love a little more in the face of this unkind fury:-) |

Paul,
When life strikes us with a tragic blow, it's how we choose to handle it that makes us who we are. Yes it would be euphoric to be able to say that our experiences here on earth were all the sweetest of grapes, but that's simply just not life as we know it.
Your poem proves to be most human. You chose to laugh instead of cry. Some might think that reaction is offbeat, but I say laugh, and laugh loud.
I feel for your pain, but at the same time, I know you are a much stronger person than you were before.

So many things in life cause a little piece of us to die, sometimes they add up to too much pain for the relationship to survive. It is not a lack of love that tears us apart, but the sharing of such deep and personal sorrows that cannot be fixed that sets a stage of gilt which overshadows all the goodness and loving that used to be the starring act. A very moving and touching poem, Paul.
Take care,
Sherry |

| However you return, we are so glad that you have, and you certainly give us real meat here, Paul; the picture on its own is enough to turn the screw... This twists like a knife whichever way we read and relate to it - and pain is not an adequate enough word to use to condense or describe such enormity of feeling. You write this so well - it achieves its full effect without self-pity or overstated sentiment and that makes the writing even more muscular: I could soooo learn from you, Paul! May I add my sorrow for your obvious heartbreak here, but trust that healing is taking place as you plough the road ever onward and upward... writing about these things sure does help, don't it?! Please don't go again, will you?! Be well! LOL Kate xx |
