Where we shall dream to nostalgic rhythms

As the wind makes love to your hair

Where Cuba floats on the waves

Of an untiring sun

And my colours

And your colours

Are one

It is there

That I long to be

O sweet "there"

Tense are my dreams

And eager

Like air and fire

Was my soul

As your smile broke out

And set the earth on bloom

Red as a poppy field

I follow you

Through your moves

And you are light

And dark

And glowing

The dark silk of your skin

Draws my tears

My blood

My blood

My sweet

My soul

On the coast of your eyes

I long to be

Your eyes

Like fireflies

Catch my pain

And make it shine

On the coast of your darkness

I long to be

Your hair in plaits

Adorned with pearls

Your lips

Two oceans

And shores of two

Your fingertips caressed

My blood

And it flooded

The shores

Take away bitterness

Acid taste

Take away

And make my passing taste

Of life

When passion meets

Blue depth

Time is

Cubic measures

Reflect its heart

Your heart

My heart

Be endless,

Cuban sky!

As we dream

And speak of ourselves as

Laughing at our earnest

Smiling at our dream

Of you

But yout, too

Dreamed us

I dreamed you

You dreamed me

They dreamed themselves as

And the world found its truth in the play

Of illusions

And forget

For this world is still young

And love, black-eyed

Still claims its victims

And sheds its blood

Without regret

To mingle it

With theirs

New worlds, my friend

Are born of us

What counts sorrow?!

Where we shall dream to nostalgic rhythms

As the wind makes love to your hair

Where Cuba floats on the waves

Of an untiring sun

And my colours

And your colours

Are one

It is there that I long to be

O sweet "there"
