Rachmaninoff's fingers

poised above the ivorys

in the silence

of the secret night

The one snowflake

that falls

past my open mouth

in winter's embrace

Is preferable

to summer's lanquid promise

unripened

fallen short of harvest

under a seductive moon

And this warm sigh

wasted on air

Linda,
Beautifully evocative and with its own distinct throb and resonance.

I think I've found a kindred spirit! I love this. And I'm feeling very much the same way about spring this year-- unripened...frost date long-past, and it's snowing! --And I've been working so hard prepping it!-- just doesn't seem fair. I mean, if it's gonna snow, give me a foot of it so I can at least go sledding.

And if you're teetering on the edge of love... Ayay! Isn't the icy kiss of hate better than dispassion? Engaging your trust is wasted on such-- a warm sigh on air... --Charlie

WOW! Linda...what a beautiful expose of one's soul (the entire
poem) but I loved this line the best as it is the one I could feel
"gut deep" when I read it.

Very poised, very elegant, very controlled ... and VERY effective in reaping the required result that is deceptively "languid" and yet is hypertensile and laced with a sprung-tension... just like that concert piano. Delicate and yet electric. Fantastic evocation and music to the eyes and ears. This is the elliptical and mystical music of both art and music, conveying surpassing and inexpressible thoughts. Like the most beautiful watercolour, all the better for sublime understatement. Bless you and Eagles report still on file!! :)) LOL Kate xx
