lack of wildness
by Henry Burt Stevens 04/13/2006 authorsden.com/henrybstevens
so missing in my life of late is a deep sense of wildness anymore
mostly house bound or nearby outside i have domestic nature tamed
my flowers shrubs small tree birdfeeder visitors all of which i appreciate
but it's not like walking thru the Bundy Schoolhouse clearing up and over the backside
of Unbrella mountain looking down on the diggings building Green River reservoir
now Green River State Park usefull well managed but it's not wildness
besides i'll probably never see again even that except in thoughts and dreams. ....................................................................... Here is the link to the video about my garden

Yes looking back as this poem tends to make me want to do, I remember the wild barren trails of my youth, where wildflowers were taken for granted, blueberries were a five minute walk away and the wildlife lived wild.
