to look is not the same as to see

January 2008

laying down my
Mother's well worn
Bible i walk
out in the night

clear air reveals
bright sky with
its way far wonders
of the starry sight

Galileo the ancient
sailor suffered for
his discovery of
earth not center

NASA reveals in
outrageous color
the many wonders
far beyond us

me am but a flea
on a trick pony
tethered in a ring
going round round

using science
the real story
may one day
be ours to tell.

 ...........................

Gianetta Ellis recently wrote a poem that uses mostly 3 word lines and 4 line stanzas. I found this interesting and asked her permission to post her poem on my page, mine on her page.
..................................
Her introduction to her poem

 Unrestrained by the "realistic" and "practical" perceptions that all too often bind people to a current point in life - like prisoner's ropes tethering to a fixed point affording limited venues and, therefore, limited inspiration.

(Note: "present" is used below as a verb, e.g., "opportunities present themselves.")
..........................

Source-Driven

Belief manifests purpose;

Gratitude propels intent;

Aspirations shall unfold,

Opportunities present.

Likelihoods grip and tether;

Practicality restrains;

Others’ perceptions smother,

An unfulfilled life remains.

Integrity bears healing;

Dedication builds resolve;

Progress begins to occur,

Self-doubt starts to dissolve.

So true. Much of the bible and science, seem to interact with each other in some way . We are only a small spec in the cosmos of life. Well done!......M

You paint very clear, distinct pictures with your words. Interesting that your poem begins with the Bible and ends with science. When we consider that every thought and emotion we offer/project into the Universe has an effect, we see that if all the fleas banded together in unison, we may be able to raise the frequency of the Cosmos. As to the "real story", perhaps it is ever in-flux - bending and burgeoning according to the auras emanating from every heart.
