This is the theme poem from my book. It speaks volumes about me. Enjoy!

Times are good and times are bad.

          I’ve had happy days and sad.

          Through it all I understand;

          It’s not my choice, fate dealt the hand.

          So I play the hand I have,

          I’m not a quitter; I won’t starve.

          I feel the pinch; I feel the pain.

          The pressure’s on; I won’t complain.

          I am strong; I persevere.

          God is on my side; I have no fear.

          I must admit, the wear and tear

          Is the main reason I adhere;

          To my faith, my hope, my God;

          I can’t do it alone, I need the Lord.

          There are days I am so depressed,

          I’m overcome with loneliness.

          I’m on my knees, I’m deep in prayers.

          I’m overwhelmed, and I’m in tears.

          Who would believe the craziness?

          I never thought it would be like this.

          I am sustained by God who cares.

          Look, I am Smiling Thru The Tears.

After reading this poem, I went directly to Jean Pike's den site to reread her poem "When It Rains," and recaptured these lines:

"Under gathering clouds I walk
In the shadows of the moonlight
With hope my only stronghold
And faith my only plan."

Of any person I have ever met, Pamela, you exemplify what suffering and hope and faith are all about. This poem, "Smiling Thru The Tears," is a reminder of how far you have come when I now read your poem in July, 2007, "In The Silence of the Moment."

You are, indeed, an unforgettable inspiration for us all.

With great respect and admiration,
Richard
