Mankind and man is used in the general sense, meaning- man/woman.
Sometimes, we take things to the Lord, leave them at the foot of the cross only to take them back again.
-Cast your cares on the Lord...and He will sustain you…and, will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55 v 22
Man is always looking…searching for everything in this life
Man is always poking around; sometimes creating his own strife
Ask him what he’s looking for so desperately everyday
He thinks he’s lost so he is avidly trying to find his way
He is looking for peace and comfort;
Man wants to make a brand new start
He’s looking everywhere for an answer
But the answer is etched upon his heart
Man is miserable and unhappy now he’s looking for some joy
So he’s out on the town most every night kickin’it with his boys
Still man feels lost and lonely; he’s sad and stressed and feeling blue
He is trying hard, he’s doing his best but he still doesn’t have a clue
Why he always feels frustrated; why things are they way they are
Why he is making a decent living yet things are never up to par
He has the home, the car, the children and makes a very good salary
He has a spouse who really loves him; yes, he’s been blessed materially
He has everything he’s ever wanted; man is living out his dream
The banks are filled with man’s investments and he is living off the cream
All the time and money he invested to make his world a better place
All the blood, sweat and tears that he put into creating his own space
All the energy he expended to be the best that he could be
Could never have prepared man for the experience that he had spiritually
All the things that he was searching for here, there and everywhere
The peace, the joy, the love, the comfort were never further than his prayer
He searched so long for peace and happiness, tired, hungry and in doubt
Always feeling so disappointed , emotionally empty and wiped out
Man was looking in the world around him instead of looking deep within
Man was carrying years of baggage when he could’ve given it all to Him
Man keeps toting around his baggage when God said- give it all to Him
A spritually brilliant and philosophically powerful poem. In MANKIND the full light of the poet's soul shines through with wisdom, strength, and love. It is beautiful to behold.
In this superb writing you have so elequently, and clearly stated what life is all about...the important things that we search for will one day mean nothing. Nothing can fill that void like God can. Blessings & peace, Holly
