This is the emotion I felt the first time I saw my brother Ralph Brown. We were separated when we were both adopted away from our birth mother and siblings...

We came together for the first time ever,
Brother and sister, yet strangers.
Both raised far away, yet connected.
Two strangers, yet not, embrace through the ages of time.

We come together for the first time ever,
Yet trembled in anticipation.
Anxious and eager to know each other
To find the common ground.

I looked into your eyes and saw myself.
At once at ease like at no other time.
This meeting bittersweet because it soon ends.
I feel safe, I feel loved, I feel complete.

I know we will never be apart again.
I know we have much to share and now time to do it.
If I could have but one wish, it would be to freeze this moment forever.
To stop time from flowing, so forever we’d live the moment when…

We came together for the first time ever.

My brother and I experienced this very collection of
emotions you so eloquently describe here, two years ago,
when we "found" each other for the first time since we
were children.
A wonderful feeling indeed!

You spoke for millions when you wrote this. This is what so many can identify with. This is why you have such a gift. You truly make your poetry universal. Touched me deeply and I am not adopted. Bless your heart and soul.

Thank YOU...(sigh)-so beautiful..
