"The Pain-Killer"
By Dr. Shalomim Y. HaLahawi

stressed each day down the road we trend
tired and bruised with seemingly no end
can't find relief from the pain inside
exposed to the public with nowhere in signt to hide

where do you go & how to relieve
the struggles inside that just won't leave
emergency room, you are almost killed
pop pop pop, heres a pain pill

it feels soo good, the pain goes away
you feel you can live to fight another day
then it suddenly wears off and the hope gets shelved
because now without it, you no longer feel yourself

so the pain pill reliever, becomes your bug
addicted so strongly, even worse than drugs
your life starts spiraling out of control
the pain pill took over your life your soul

you need that high, it feel soo good
its the only time you feel your life understood
but the ups and downs, the highs the lows
your life start suffering from the addiction blows

you personality starts changing, you speak a mist
you say things you can't take back, you only wish
you loose control, you slow your excell
your heaven fades and you increase your hell

you go in cirlces, you still have pain
but the pills soon, don't meet those gains
so you start taking more, to just get relief
and you change that much to everyones disbelief

you are not yourself, but you dont realize
that something else is controlling your life
doors start closing, success then fails
the world slows up, but you can't inhale

you try so hard to look as if you are in control
but the reality is, the story's untold
so you say i will quit i have to stop
but a pain pill baby is as worse as crack rock

you stop taking them, and the chills they come
the shaking, the anxiety, you feel like a bum
you toss and you turn, but no comfort to find
so you say to yourself, just one more, the last time

so you pop that pill, and the rush comes in
but the life behind it is, chata, destructive sin
your eyes turn jaundice, your kidneys break
your life goes down a road thats not for heavens sake

around and around you go, you can't break away
and then even if your high & relief, you cry for bettery days
so what do you do, where do you go
back to that pill, for thats all you've come to know

your career is gone, your hope fades away
but that pain pill is your friend now, yet your enemy every day
and the harder you struggle, the weaker becomes your mind
you can't find anything else of success in life
but that pill beside you, is easy to find

and oh the road that travels so far
the drug you take, makes you forget who you are
the more you try to shove it, and hide it on the shelf
it wears off soon, and you hate your true self

and once again, back at square one
the pain killer is your father, and you are its son
and then one day, the world suddenly gets black
because pain killer abuse leads to heart attacks

what was meant to relieve just the short term pain
can be the root to everything you lost of all your gains
drugs whether legal or forbidden as such
for the human life is simply too much

we must seek better ways to cope with our lives
in sickness and in health, and in all we strive
for the very things, drugs, that can give us a high
could be the reason families are gathering to say good bye

Life is too important to waste it away
we need to preserve it, each and every day
we need our health, its not hard to find
that its very important to keep control of our minds

yet ohh soo many legends are fallen and slain
at the hands of the drugs, thats supposed to kill the pain
and the counteless of lives, the stories untold
the people we've lost, the reality unfolds

the pains and struggles of people are real
but we must find a better way to cope and heal
even i must finally come to terms
that pain killers is not the answer, a school i must unlearn
for i am no exception, i am in the same lifes basket
that if don't stop taking these pills, i too will be in that casket

for we must beat it, it can't be a thriller
we must over-come the drug they call
