I drove to the mountains today

careened over the tedious hardened asphalt
while obsidian towers crowned with silvery white
lined my pathway
in the lavender twilight

and ahead of me
the shadow of distant peaks
silhouetted against a cotton candy sky
left the contemplator to wonder
if God himself
had torn away the horizon

leaving only the jagged edges of a frayed heaven
and the inky void beyond

excellently constructed and such great words. I could picture the mountains and my favorite line was "Left the contemplator to wonder if god himself had torn away the horizon" that was so awesome. Keep writing.

Wonderful imagery. Loved the last two lines ...leaving only the

jagged edges of a frayed heaven
and the inky void beyond
