I never believed
that a heart could beat
so loudly
or ache so badly

until I reached for you in the night

I never believed
that a soul is only
half of what it could be

until I found the other half of mine
half way around the world

I never believed
that love could be so beautiful
or so devastating

until I felt the weight
of the miles between us

I never believed
that one person could make me
complete upon this earth

until you smiled
and there was no more darkness

I never believed
that I could gaze into another's eyes
and see heaven
or come this close to God

I never believed

until you
believed in me
