I died today

again
as I did yesterday
and all the days that came before

it began
the day I found out
you weren't the man
I supposed you were

now
every lie with a smile
every deceit bantered laughingly

every "I love you"
falsified by your touch

knicks my heart
like the sharpest knife

and I am bleeding out
over you

so small is each pierce
that I am left
to endure
each droplet of us
as it slips away slowly
while another takes its place

tonight
I will lie down

a beggar for a few moments rest
from the torment that follows me
as a shadow follows its maker

and I will forget
and I will dream

and tomorrow

I'll die again
