I wrote this after a very bad relationship.

The Hurt Runs Deep

Tears are streaming down my saddened face

                           As I lay in bed…alone

With thoughts of you…of us…what we could have been

All this is flooding my mind

The hurt runs deep…as more tears fall

I am surrounded by the silence

Heart broken…my soul bare, vulnerable

As I wait for the drug to kick in, the one that eases the pain

Too bad it only works on the body alone…too bad

Yet the hurt runs deep…so very deep

I remember our first kiss…more tears

So soft…so slow…so very sweet, so very sweet

There was a promise of more to follow, that promise was broken

I should have known it would be too much for you to handle

The pain I mean

The hurt runs deeper yet

I feel so damn cheated…was it too much to ask of you?

I say not…I waited two years and eight months for nothing

So much time wasted

So many more tears

The hurt runs deeper, with more tears to follow

In a short four days, you have found another…is she what you wanted

Why not me…WHY?

Every time I close my eyes, I can see you face so clearly

It is almost like you are here

Why won’t you speak to me…coward

The hurt runs deep and yet I understand

I am the one who must always understand, I must not be weak

I just wanted to be happy, is it too much to ask?

Just once

I never wanted to fall in love…it hurts to damn much

I fight it so hard…but fear I may be failing

The hurt runs deep, as does our silence

Yet I wear my mask…my fake smile, upon my weary face

As the hurt runs way to deep

I fear this time it may never stop

Such a sad write you have captured the emotions of a loss, being lost, loneliness and despair too well. Well expressed. With time the wound will heal.

God bless, Jade!

Very hurtful. I expect that you learned from this and didn't fall back into the same type of relationship.
