To my daughter who begins a new life

I embrace you
for the woman you have become
You are the one constant in my life
my joy
my yesterdays and tomorrows
I dream of you
combing your hair
sending you off to school
my wind blown kisses ~ ~ ~
as you wave goodbye
I miss you
I welcome you
This tug of war
between child and woman
makes me want the yesteryears again
forces me to understand the potential
I want him to love you
to embrace you
to take care of you
I want you to have
all that I have wished for
I want to see you
in your children
I want to comb their hair
and blow kisses to them
reminding me
of this wonderful cycle of my life
that begins and ends with you
I miss you
I welcome you

even though my own is only two, i'm already dreading the time when she'll be an entity separate from me. this was a spectacular write, and you quite nearly - though not quite - nailed what a father feels for his daughter. %)
respect, -A.
