Sit down old man and take your place
along with the “has been” club.
Been a babe, been a boy.
Played with toys,
been to the candy store.

Been a teen with dreams.
Been a man with a plan.
Been to work and off to war.

Been good and sometimes bad.
Been happy and many times sad.
Been healthy, been sick.
Been cautious and sometimes slick.

Been up and been down.
Been rich, been poor
Many times scraping pennies
From the floor.

Been in love and been hurt.
Been sometimes hungry, sometimes full.
Been full of energy, and got tired a lot.
Thought quick on my feet and some things
I forgot.

Time to sit down old man,
Take a little rest
Think over your life old man
You gave it your best.
