mystical experience in the common occurrence of waking up

What is poetry?

It is an expression of thoughts and feelings, using words as tools, to create something original, of beauty and of worth.  (my own thoughts)

Extract from Stone Diaries  by Carol Shields:

How does a poet know when a poem is ended?

Because it lies flat, taut; nothing can be added or substracted.

A cocoon of calmness

captures the stillness.

Rain shades the moment,

complementing the silence

in holy harmony.

Joy nestles around the heart.

Its soul -mate, Peace, fills the spaces.

Twin gifts.

Feet touch each other warmly

in close companionship -

forgiving friends ,

 grown old and crooked together.

Legs rest neatly folded,

one upon the other

in passive symmetry.

No movement

save the soft rise and fall of breathing.

Only  Mind stirs

with silent utterings of creativity.

Striving to find

 fitting expression

to witness the beauty of the morning.

You elicit well the yearnings within the poetic soul. I, for one, am always restless when inspiration "takes her time." Thank you, Joyce. Love and peace. Regis
