mortal in its linear design
it is the enemy of biological continuance
the bearer of tomorrow
the lender of yesterday
the healer
the bringer of forgetfulness
these are its roles in the world of the living
the black and white of the was, the now, and will be

Spirituality
Immortal in its fluidity
Described as the gateway to beyond
It is an existence of purity, of love
It knows not this concept called time

For in this realm a moment is eternal
Colors never fade here

It is here I see

the smoky brown irises,
Losing myself in their mystery. 

The red fullness of lips
their softness their expression 

The pink blush of cheeks
porcelain on her angelic face

The ebony of silken hair
framing her femininity

Existence
The conflict of blending the two
The fight to maintain memory
The striving for balance
Where reality boasts that fantasy is myth
and fantasy claims dreams can become reality

It is here I am held captive
waiting for outcome
Relying on perceptions or misperceptions
all of it unknown to me

The tear of my fabric
held together only by the memory of
the brown,
the red ,
the pink
and
the ebony
