My granddaughter's two and a half years grown.
Old age to her--a concept unknown.
Haven is "Gampa's" delight!
Now, when Haven comes to play on the floor,
Her feelings bother me.
What'll happen when I am no more?
But Haven is "Gampa's" delight!
"Gampa's" vigor is slowly disappearing.
Unaware that old folks have an end in sight;
When Haven visits and we get down to play,
She thinks, "Gampa" will be here another day.
Haven is "Gampa's" delight!
But it seems unfair to let her get so close,
Then search for a "Gampa" who loved her most.
Haven is "Gampa's" delight!
When I pass on I hope death exacts its toll
Soon; to spare tiny Haven any grief of soul.
Since she knows not the meaning of gone forever,
She'll never mourn the love Gramps had for her.
Haven is "Gampa's" delight!

| Good thoughts. I write mystery/adventure stories in which my grandsons are the heroes. Also write poems for them. A good way to be immortalized! |

| From Grampy Dick to Gampa Rege, My suggestion, ,,,, Double Dip your "delight" by making sure you write some stuff "just for her" so she'll have some of you to hang onto after you are gone. (years from now, we hope) She's too young now, but mine are 11, 13 & 17 now and I've already shared some of the "Just for you" stuff with them. Very enjoyable write, Thanks Dick |

Ahhh the picture says it all, our grandkids love us uncondidtionally, I have watched my first grow from the first night she was born and I held her in my arms to yesterday when she turned seven. I won't question how many years I will have with her only cherish every one...great write my friend.
