While on a weekend camping trip I found two old tombstones. Luke

Let Us Not Forget

To Those who've gone before

AS I SIT HERE
ON THIS UNKNOWN BAY
SUN A SHIMMERING GOLDEN SPHERE
THIS QUIET SELDOM TRAVELED WAY.

SPARKLING SEAWEED ALONG THE SHORE
CHISELED ROCKS FROM IONS PAST
GLISTENING WATERS I ADORE
TRANQUILITY I HOPE WILL LAST.

AN EAGLE CIRCLES ON WESTWARD WIND
TWO LOONS OFF SHORE A HANDSOME PAIR
THIS PLACE TO LET MY SPIRIT MEND
SALT WATER BREEZE BLOWS MY HAIR.

THIS OLD HOMESTEAD ON THE SHORE
FIELDS RUN TO OCEANS EDGE
CHILDREN PLAYED IN DAYS BEFORE
DOVE IN WATERS OFF THIS LEDGE.

TREES NOW GROW WHERE SHEEP ONCE GRAZED
OLD ROCKS LEFT WHERE A HOUSE WAS RAISED
HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED,I AM AMAZED
SUCH HARDY PEOPLE TO BE PRAISED.

A WAY OF LIFE ON THE ATLANTIC SHORE
FROM BOUNTIFUL OCEAN FISH WERE CAUGHT
THAT WAY OF LIFE IS NO MORE
THE OCEAN BARREN FISH ARE NAUGHT.

LET'S NOT FORGET THOSE DAYS OF YORE
COMMUNITIES THRIVED ALONG THE SHORE
THE WORK WAS HARD AND MOST WERE POOR
AND DEATH CAME EARLY AT YOUR DOOR.
