This was a man dedicated to Family and community Roger Wardrope

I lost a friend today

He was a friend to all

I'm so sad to say

He answered the Master's call.

I find it hard to be sad

I'd known him for years

Yes, I do feel bad

He was honoured by his peers

I will miss his wisdom

That  twinkle in his eye

Now he has freedom

Looking down from the sky

He wouldn't want us to cry

Or even let a sigh

but to continue to try

and live life on high

I lost a friend today

I didn't say good bye

But he's just a prayer away

And we all have to die.

you truly have a way with words, and enjoy reading your poetry, makes me feel like I needed to see your words, as thy express thoughts from the heart.

I am sorry for your loss. Wonderful poem. It has such a sense of hope to it. Beautifully penned.
