My uncle who I miss.

My Uncle Ches

I lived with him on the farm

Where I grew to be a man

He kept me safe from harm

Through the fields I ran.

Taught me how to work

Life was fun with him around

Cleaned the barn with a fork

Planted corn in the ground

Milked the cows night and morn

Carried water to the stock

Wore old clothes that were torn

Awoke each morn by crowing cock.

We laughed a lot him and I

Working hard on the farm

Hours under country sky

Where singing birds would swarm.

I miss him so now he’s gone

His old bible now my own

He’s with God not alone

In my heart his wisdom sown.

I know he’s watching over me

I feel his presence by my side

Years ago I sat on his knee

Now safe in Heaven he does abide.

I hope he is proud of me

For that little boy on his knee

Is now the man he hoped I’d be

The kind of man he hoped to see.

Where words like these come from the heart, it is one of the greatest gift one can give, to those special departed love ones.

Very good, Larry! I think that he was proud of you before he passed.
