Haunt Me

Purely fiction from a OMG what if moment.

Be the shadow that lingers at my back
Though out of reach I'll know you’re there
Be the breeze that whispers on my neck
Unable to touch you, blowing through my hair

Be the goose bumps rising on my arms
The tingle that ripples down my spine
Be the scent of Polo – Ralph Lauren
Till I relax, unwind, untwine

Be the warm spot in our king-sized bed
I wouldn’t mind you snore
Be the pillow where you laid your head
But where it lays no more

Sneak into my dreams and kiss me
Oh that I might sleep for days
Let me believe that you are with me
Haunt me in the sweetest of ways

Very very lovely Janna and a piece that shows a different side of you, at least for me. Soft as a summer pillow.

Jerry is spot on!
Such brilliant work, I just read this in admiration. It is a contest winner, to be sure!

I like the repeated use of 'Be'
Janna, a projection of love and,
as you say, a what if moment..
and that 'warm spot' is so resonant.
i really like this poem.

First off, I have to say that the picture accompanying this forlorn write is perfect for the poem. To lose, or miss someone we have given our love to is one, if not the, most ephemeral and hurtful things that can happen to us. The pain is everywhere, even when, as in this poem it is merely in the missing of the ordinary things they did or caused that made the world go round for us, and now these things are gone.
Good poem.
