The Demon's Pyre

Burning feet on beaches bare
Seeking cool from heat’s harsh glare
Water, water every where
But none to quench the fire

Toes quarrying for cool, packed sand
Blazing, barren, no mans land
No breeze it seems, no palm to fan
With every cell afire

Moody rhythmic seething rash
Cool soft cotton turned to ash
Sweating through the dreaded flash
Here in the demons pyre

Can't argue with the rest of the reviews. Really like the rhythmic intensity of the piece. Nice work, Janna.

Either Ron missed the point, or I did. I took the category (women) as my first hint. A very apt description (unless I'm mistaken) of some very uncomfortable circumstances that women endure and men contend with.

Well said Janna. Dick
